Programs For Parents Hosts NJ Department of Health Webinar!

On August 24^th 2017, Programs for Parents hosted a webinar presented by the New Jersey Department of Health on Childhood Immunizations. The presentation was presented by Jennifer Smith and Jenish Sudhakaran of the New Jersey Department of Health. Jennifer Smith is the Health Educator for the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program (VPDP) at the NJ Department of Health. In this role, Ms. Smith selects and develops appropriate immunization educational materials for use by the public and health care providers; provides in-service training for staff related to vaccine preventable diseases, updates on the immunization schedules, and the licensing of new vaccines. Ms. Smith regularly provides presentations and technical assistance to child care providers and school nurses on the topic of NJ Immunization Requirements. Additionally, she serves as a member of the NJ Immunization Network (NJIN), a statewide immunization coalition that promotes timely immunizations and addresses vaccine safety concerns.

Jenish Sudhakaran is the Population Assessment Coordinator for the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program (VPDP) at the NJ Department of Health. In this role, Ms. Sudhakaran’s responsibilities include identifying and monitoring pockets of under-immunized children by using coverage estimates through the utilization of assessments and surveys, in addition to estimating immunization coverage and exemption rates among children in New Jersey schools. Additionally, she is responsible for addressing inquiries from the public on vaccine preventable diseases along with providing presentations and technical assistance to child care providers and school nurses on New Jersey Immunization requirements.
