10th Annual Week of the Young Child Breakfast

Programs for Parents, Inc. (PfP) held is 10th annual Week of the Young Child Breakfast at NICO’s at NJPAC.  Celebrating the early childhood workforce, keynote speaker, the Honorable Lt. Governor Sheila Y. Oliver congratulated Programs for Parents for 35 years of work in expanding access to child care for more than 200,000 children and families in Essex County.  She identified the “benefits that accrue to those who participate in early childhood education” and encouraged the audience to continue advocating for early childhood education “because if we can provide access, we will create a successive generation of youth who will have other options in their lives”. Oliver encouraged attendees to provide testimony making early childhood funding a top priority at upcoming budget hearings and support Governor Murphy’s proposed $69 million for early childhood.

Programs for Parents CEO, Dr. Beverly Lynn, honored 9 Family Child Care Providers who have earned a star rating through Grow NJ Kids, New Jersey’s Quality Rating and Improvement System, Lynn enthusiastically endorsed family child care as a “viable choice” especially for parents looking for an intimate learning environment for infants and toddlers.

A much-needed service with a significant impact

Dr. Lynn concluded the breakfast with encouragement for all attendees.  “Changing young children’s lives has so many challenges. Children today have so many needs. They are looking for us to help them”.
